Middle School Students Serve Infantry Company Miss Courtney Fisher's 2 seventh grade Serve America classes at Point Pleasant Borough's Memorial Middle School have adopted Bravo Company 1st Battalion 114th Infantry as a class project! Serve America is a type of elective class at Memorial Middle School. Students covered 30 boxes and placed one in each homeroom. They created and posted flyers all over the school, and they also authored a letter to be placed in each teacher's mailbox so that he/she could read it to their students. They decided to make the collection a contest to get people motivated, and so the homeroom that collects the most supplies for Bravo Company is winning a pizza party! Miss Fisher noted that "my homeroom (a 6th grade class) is in the lead with 57 items, and it's only the 3rd day of collection!" The boxes in each classroom are being checked and emptied twice a week, and then the items are counted. Miss Fisher explains that "once they are brought to my room, they will be packaged in the boxes. This is ALL being done by my Serve America students". Miss Fisher goes on to share that "it would be an understatement to say that my students are excited about this project. My Serve America students have devoted much of their time to it, even before and after school (plus donated boxes to use for the collection process), and my sixth grade homeroom has thought of numerous ideas for items to bring in. They are also begging me to write letters, which we will be doing soon." Get ready Bravo Company! It's the best serving the serving! Webmaster note: The items collected and packaged by the students will be delivered to the Manasquan Elks #2534 for inclusion in their next shipment to the soldiers in November.
